College Park Scholars is a living-learning community for first- and second-year students. STudents can choose from one of 12 thematic two-year programs.
Each of these two-year programs is designed to study a variety of contemporary and historical issues aligned with the program theme. Under the guidance of dedicated faculty, students engage in critical, collaborative, and practical learning, and they integrate that work with the rest of their courses. Program directors are appointed by the programs’ sponsoring colleges.
Programs enroll 70 to 90 students each year.
Students are not required to enroll in a Scholars program that corresponds to their major. In fact, many Scholars students say they benefit from participating in a program that differs from their major, as they learn about topics and explore perspectives they may not otherwise encounter. Many of the courses that students take through College Park Scholars meet the university's general education requirements.
