Handshake is the University Career Center's online career management platform for University of Maryland students and alumni. Handshake can be accessed online or through the app.

Employers specifically seeking UMD alumni use Handshake to post full-time, internship and part-time positions. You can search by industry, job function, geographic location, major, and other criteria. Use the system’s job alert feature to receive notifications of new postings matching your interests.

Alumni can also use Handshake to:

  • Claim a seat at a wide variety of career workshops and employer events through your Handshake account.
  • Upload and store customized resumes, cover letters, and other job search documents for use with online applications. Customize your profile with your academic information, career interests, skills, and courses - this will allow employers to search and reach out to you in Handshake.
  • Within one year of graduation, alumni can schedule virtual and in-person appointments with career advisors through Handshake. Alumni more than one year out have access to a brief consultation and a wide variety of resources available via the Alumni Association.
  • Access the Career Center’s exclusive career exploration and job search tools.

Whatever made your time on campus memorable -- a cultural organization, a student group, a living-learning community -- those bonds don’t end when you graduate.

Join an affinity network to reconnect with classmates and friends who still share those common interests and affiliations.

Give to Scholars Legacy Fund

Too often $500 or $1,000 prevents a student from accepting the once-in-a-lifetime chance to study abroad or participate in a valuable internship. Donate to the Scholars Legacy Fund to fund co-curricular scholarships that allow Scholars to take on life-changing experiences.
