The Waitlist Form is available now here.
Why must I complete the Waitlist Form?
You did not complete the Interest Inventory by the February 14, 2014 deadline. You are requesting to be reconsidered for Scholars. There is no guarantee that this request will be honored.
Where do I send the Waitlist Form once I have completed it?
The College Park Scholars Waitlist Form can be sent
via fax to 301-314-9843
or in the mail to Scholars Waitlist Form, College Park Scholars, 1125 Cumberland Hall, University of Maryland, College Park MD 20742-9331.
Will I get into Scholars if I fill out the Waitlist Form?
College Park Scholars makes no guarantee that students will be placed into a program should they complete and submit a Waitlist form. Determinations will be made based upon the spaces that become available.
What do you look at when considering students who complete the Waitlist Form?
We consider a number of factors including:
- students’ high school academic performance
- community involvement, and
- essay on the Waitlist form. (Those who have been invited to a Scholars program and wish to be considered for another Scholars program are not required to complete the application essay. )
If I do not get my top preference, will I be placed into any available program?
If you choose the option to be placed into any available program on the Waitlist Form, we will try to honor your request. Please note that determinations on program placement will rely on the spaces that become available.
What is the structure of the Waitlist?
All students will be considered as part of a pool, and decisions will be made considering program preferences, high school academic performance, community involvement, and application essay.
When and how will I be notified of any decisions regarding the Waitlist?
We cannot guarantee an offer for Scholars before May 1st, the deadline to confirm your enrollment to the University. After that date, we hope to have a solid picture of the spaces available. We will strive to make almost all decisions before the first College Park Scholars Orientation. We will notify students about their status on the waitlist primarily through the email address the university has on file. Please make sure this email address is up to date.
What do I do about Orientation and Housing?
Students who submit a Waitlist Form should submit their housing application by the May 1 deadline and register for a non-Scholars Orientation program. If you are invited to Scholars from the Waitlist process, we will work with you to coordinate a Scholars Orientation date and to update your housing status to Scholars housing.
