Thirty-Four College Park Scholars Elected into Phi Beta Kappa

Thirty-four College Park Scholars were elected to the Gamma-of-Maryland Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Organized in 1776, Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and most widely respected academic honor society in the United States. Invitation to membership is based on outstanding scholastic achievement in studies of the liberal arts and sciences. The Maryland Chapter was established in 1964.
Congratulations go to the following College Park Scholars who were elected into Phi Beta Kappa:

Kassira Absar earned her College Park Scholars citation in Public Leadership, in 2007.  She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Government and Politics, and Spanish Language and Literature.  Kassira is a 2005 graduate of New Trier High School, in Winnetka, IL.

Michael Bacharach earned his College Park Scholars citation in Public Leadership, in 2007.  He will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics. Michael is a 2005 graduate from River Hill High School, in Clarksville, Md.

Heather Bartholomew earned her College Park Scholars citation in Media, Self and Society, in 2007.  She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics.  Heather is a 2005 graduate from James Hubert Blake High School, in Silver Spring, Md.

Adrienne Beaudoin earned her College Park Scholars citation in International Studies, in 2008. Currently a junior, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.  Adrienne is a 2006 graduate of Hopedale Junior-Senior High School, in Hopedale, Ma.

Sara Bove earned her College Park Scholars citation in Public Leadership, in 2007.  She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Language and Literature.  Sara is a 2005 graduate of Oakland Mills High School, in Columbia, Md.

Corey Brewer earned her College Park Scholars citation in International Studies, in 2007.  She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.  Corey is a 2005 graduate of Col. Zadok Magruder High School, in Rockville, Md.

Rebecca Cohen earned her College Park Scholars citation in International Studies, in 2008.  Currently a junior, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.  Rebecca is a 2005 graduate of Newton North High School, in Newton, Ma.

Julia Collins earned her College Park Scholars citation in Environmental Studies, in 2007.  She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological sciences.  Julia is a 2005 graduate of Bel Air High School, in Bel Air, Md.

Krysten Connon earned her College Park Scholars citation in International Studies, in 2007.  She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in German Language and Literature, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics.  Krysten is a 2005 graduate of Chatham High School, in Chatham, NJ.

Samantha DiFilippo earned her College Park Scholars citation in International Studies, in 2007.  She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics.  Samantha is a 2005 graduate of Ocean Township High School, in Oakhurst, NJ.

Emily Feldman earned her College Park Scholars citation in Media, Self and Society, in 2007.  She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature.  Emily is a 2005 graduate of East Brunswick High School, in East Brunswick, NJ.

Jessica Garber  earned her College Park Scholars in Advocates for Children, in 2008.  Currently a junior, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.  Jessica is a 2006 graduate of Thomas Sprigg Wootton High School, in Rockville, Md.
 
Jamie Gershkow earned her College Park Scholars citation in Public Leadership, in 2007.  She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Government and Politics, and Criminology and Criminal Justice.  Jamie is a 2005 graduate of Abington High School, in Pennsylvania.

Danielle Gold earned her College Park Scholars citation in Media, Self and Society, in 2007.  She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Government in Politics, and Criminology and Criminal Justice.  Danielle is a 2005 graduate of Half Hollow Hills High School East, in Dix Hills, NY.

Danielle Goldberg earned her College Park Scholars citation in International Studies, in 2007. She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health.  Danielle is a 2005 graduate of Walter Johnson High School, in Rockville, Md.

Emma Goldstein earned her College Park Scholars citation in Media, Self and Society, in 2008.  Currently a junior, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication.  Emma is a 2006 graduate of Parkland High School, in Allentown, PA.

Samara Gottlieb earned her College Park Scholars citation in International Studies, in 2007.  She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics.  Samar is a 2005 graduate of Trumbull High School, in Trumbull, CT.

Susan Grace earned her College Park Scholars citation in International Studies, in 2007.  She will be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics.  Susan is a 2005 graduate of Thomas Sprigg Wootton High School, in Rockville, Md.

Ian Gross earned his College Park Scholars citation in            Public Leadership, in 2008.  Currently a junior, Ian is pursuing majors in business and philosophy.  Ian is a 2006 graduate of Upper Dublin High School, in Ft. Washington, PA.

Sharon Iseminger earned her College Park Scholars citation in American Cultures, in 2006.  This may she will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing. Sharon is a 2004 graduate of Quince Orchard High School, in No. Potomac, Md.

Erica Levinson earned her College Park Scholars citation in International Studies, in 2007.  Currently a junior, she is pursuing a major in Hearing and Speech Sciences.  Erica is a 2006 graduate of Upper Dublin High School, in Ft. Washington, PA.

Maria Mangione earned her College Park Scholars citation in The Arts, in 2007.  This May she will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.  Maria is a 2005 graduate of Notre Dame Preparatory School, in Baltimore, Md.

Andrew McDowell earned his College Park Scholars citation in International Studies, in 2007.  This May he will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese.  Andrew is a 2005 graduate of Penfield High School, near Macedon, NY.
 
Emily Menzen earned her College Park Scholars citation in Earth, Life and Time, in 2007.  This May she will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences.  Emily is a 2005 graduate of St. John’s Literary Institution, in Frederick, Md.

Emma Nordin earned her College Park Scholars citation in Earth, Life and Time, in 2007.  This May she will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree, with majors in Anthropology and History.  Emma is a 2005 graduate of Archbishop Spalding High School, in Severn, Md.

Nina Rawtani earned her College Park Scholars citation in Science, Technology and Society, in 2007.  This May she will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.  Nina is a 2005 graduate of St. Paul’s School for Girls, in Lutherville, Md.

Michael Rosen earned his College Park Scholars citation in Media, Self and Society, in 2007.  This May he will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics.  Michael is a 2005 graduate of Fair Lawn High School, in Fair Lawn, NJ.

Arshia  Soleimani earned her College Park Scholars citation in American Cultures, in 2007.  This May she will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences.  Arshia is a 2005 graduate of Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community High School, in Baltimore, Md.
 
Zakhar Vertsman earned his College Park Scholars citation in Business, Society and the Economy, in 2008.  Currently a junior, he is pursuing a major in Finance.  Zakhar is a 2006 graduate of Bergen County Technical School, near River Edge, NJ.

Lindsay Walter earned her College Park Scholars citation in Media, Self and Society, in 2008.  Currently a junior, Lindsay is pursuing a major in Communication.  Lindsay is a 2006 graduate of Westhill High School, in Stamford, Ct.

Adrienne Willey earned her College Park Scholars citation in International Studies, in 2007.  This May she will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with majors in Spanish Language and Literature, and English Language and Literature.  Adrienne is a 2005 graduate of Cambridge-South Dorchester High School, in Cambridge, Md.

Emily Winick earned her College Park Scholars citation in American Cultures, in 2007.  This May she will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with majors in Criminology and Criminal Justice, and Psychology.  Emily is a 2005 graduate of Hall High School, in West Hartford, Ct.

Lida You earned her College Park Scholars citation in Environmental Studies, in 2007.  This May, she will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and Policy.  Lida is a 2005 graduate of Montgomery Blair High School, in Silver Spring, Md.

Abigail Zaniel earned her College Park Scholars citation in Media, Self and Society, in 2007.  This May she will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics.  Abigail is a 2005 graduate of W. T. Woodson High School, in Fairfax, Va.
