Three Scholars Inducted Into Phi Kappa Phi

On Sunday, April 16th, Maryland’s Chapter 22 of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, held its initiation ceremony in the Stamp Student Union. Established in 1920, Chapter 22 of Phi Kappa Phi is the oldest honor society at Maryland that recognizes academic excellence across all disciplines. Phi Kappa Phi invites juniors and seniors in the top 10 percent of their class, and graduate students with a grade point average of 4.0, for induction.   Faculty members, alumni and staff are also selected on the basis of outstanding achievement. At the ceremony, the following three College Park Scholars were inducted into the chapter:

Jessica G. Block graduated cum laude, in December 2008, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.  She earned her College Park Scholars citation in Advocates for Children, in 2007. Jessica is a 2005 graduate from Clarkstown High School South, in West Nyack, NY.

Lauren R. Fischer is a Hearing and Speech Sciences major.  This spring, she will complete the requirements for her College Park Scholars citation in Advocates for Children.  Lauren is a 2007 high school graduate from Mount St. Mary Academy, in Watchung, NJ.

Kelly Elizabeth Rollman will graduate cum laude this May, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Neurobiology.  In 2007, she earned her College Park Scholars citation in Earth, Life and Time.  Kelly is a 2005 graduate from Pleasantville High School, in Pleasantville, N.Y.

Also at the ceremony, two fellowships were awarded to graduates pursuing further degrees.  Elizabeth Hwang Jensen received a $5,000 fellowship to apply to graduate study, from Phi Kappa Phi National. Heather Nicole Bradshaw received a $5,000 fellowship from Chapter 22’s Foundation.
