Tori Walters (sophomore Earth, Life & Time Scholar) and Charlie Schuster (junior Science, Discovery and the Universe Scholar) joined Executive Director Greig Stewart, to address the College Park Chapter of Rotary International, on Wednesday evening, April 29th.  After learning about College Park Scholars academic and community efforts, particularly how they parallel Rotary’s values of truth, fairness, goodwill and mutual benefit, the chapter’s president, Anna Mae Kobbe, presented to the students a check for $500.00.  The funds were used to support the Scholars annual, “Step Up to Bat for Charity” softball tournament, held on May 2nd.

In a related story, College Park Scholars recently learned that Jacob Kurtzer, a Public Leadership Citation recipient from 2001, received a Rotary World Peace Fellowship.  Kurtzer earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University in 2003.
