The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources is pleased to announce that Ms. Katherine Sye Grover has been appointed Director of the Environmental Studies Program in College Park Scholars.
Ms. Grover has over a decade of experience in global environmental management, and is an expert in market-based incentives and capacity building for climate change and air quality management. She spent over five years as a policy analyst at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Change Division, where she designed and implemented projects dealing with emissions trading policies and emissions quantification methodologies for both conventional air pollutants and greenhouse gases in the energy and industrial sectors. In addition, she was the lead instructor for courses at the EPA including courses on environmental policy, climate change, and market-based mechanisms.
Her international portfolio concentrated on India and Mexico, yet included work in China, Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, South Africa, Ghana, Senegal, and Chile. Prior to her work at the EPA, Ms. Grover worked as a research associate for Hagler Bailly Consulting where she analyzed the environmental impacts of the power sector.
Ms. Grover is currently a doctoral candidate in Global Environmental Politics at the School of International Service of American University, where her research analyzes the comparative impact of different forms of networks within the climate change regime. Her research interests include global environmental governance, international organizations, environmental policy implementation, and developing countries (esp. India and Mexico). She has also taught an undergraduate course in research methods in international relations.
Ms. Grover’s previous degrees are: Master of Environmental Management, Yale School of Environment and Bachelor of Arts in Biology, Yale University.
