College Park Scholars Receive National Scholarships

College Park, Md. The University of Maryland's National Scholarship Office honored recipients of nationally competitive scholarships at its annual reception on Wednesday, May 10, 2006. Several of the recipients were College Park Scholars.
Ashley Korzun, a 2004 Science, Discovery and the Universe citation recipient, currently majoring in aerospace engineering at the A. James Clark School of Engineering, is one of three Maryland students awarded the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Undergraduate Scholarship. A 2002 graduate of Boiling Springs High School, Ashley is the daughter of Paul and Valerie Korzun, of Carlisle, PA.
Three Scholars were acknowledged as Gates Millennium Scholars:
Bemnet Balcha Hailu, a 2005 International Studies citation recipient, is currently majoring in biological sciences. A 2003 graduate of Colonel Zadok Magruder High School, Bemnet is the daughter of Hailu Balcha and Mentwab Delelegne, of Rockville, Md.
Constance Amaka Iloh is currently enrolled in the Public Leadership College Park Scholars program and majoring in Psychology. A 2005 graduate of Oxon Hill High School, Constance is the daughter of Adolph and Mercy Iloh, of Upper Marlboro, Md.
Florence Nkeiruka Ugboh is currently enrolled in the Life Sciences College Park Scholars program and majoring in biochemistry. A 2005 graduate of Parkdale High School, Florence is the daughter of Francis and Tina Ugboh, of New Carrollton, Md.
Also recognized at the reception was Katie Epting as an alternate candidate for the U.S. Fulbright Student Grant. Katie is a 2003 Media, Self and Society citation recipient, currently majoring in Environmental Science and Policy. A 2001 graduate of Yorktown High School, Katie is the daughter of Michael and Susan Epting, of Yorktown Heights, NY.
