Five Scholars Speak at December Commencement Ceremonies

It's not just the holiday season at College Park; it's also commencement season. Samy Bassam Muaddi, an economics major in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, served as the student speaker at the 237th campus commencement ceremonies, held at the Comcast Center on Wednesday evening, December 21st. Samy received his College Park Scholars citation in Business, Society and the Economy in 2004; he's the son of Bassam and Alice Muaddi of Maple Shade, NJ, and a 2002 graduate of Holy Cross High School , in Delran , NJ. Four other College Park Scholars spoke at college commencement ceremonies held on Thursday, December 22nd:

Bryan Craig Dickinson, majoring in biochemistry, was the student speaker at the College of Chemical and Life Sciences graduation ceremony. Bryan received his College Park Scholars citation in Environmental Studies in 2004. The son of Rick and Janice Dickinson, of Queenstown, Md., Bryan is a 2002 graduate of Severna Park Senior High School.

Jessica Leah Greenbaum, double majoring in Women's Studies and Government and Politics, was the student speaker at the Arts and Humanities graduation ceremony for the departments of English, Women's Studies and American Studies graduates. Jessica is a 2002 graduate of Winston Churchill High School; she received her College Park Scholars citation in Public Leadership in 2004. Jessica is the daughter of Nathan and Beth Greenbaum of Potomac, Md.

Cheryl Mathia Higgins, majoring in Agricultural and Resource Economics, was one of two student speakers at the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources graduation ceremony. Cheryl is a 2002 graduate of Broadfording Christian Academy; she received her College Park Scholars citation in the Arts in 2004. Cheryl is the daughter of Lewis and Linda Higgins, of Hagerstown, Md.

Jessica Jordan, majoring in Family Studies, was the student speaker at the College of Health and Human Performances graduation ceremony. Jessica is a 2002 graduate of Ardsley High School; she received her College Park Scholars citation in Advocates for Children Citation in 2004. Jessica is the daughter of Joseph and Charlene Jordan, of Ardsley, NY.

Gregory Tabaka - High Honors in Mechanical Engineering (Science, Technology & Society)
