Advocates for Children involves students in advocacy and service efforts targeting a broad range of social, educational, policy, and justice issues affecting children and families, which represent the diverse range of communities within the United States. The goal of the program is to help students take an informed position on a variety of children’s issues and to make a commitment to action on behalf of children. The program is structured so that students develop expertise in an area of personal interest that relate to children, and then translate that knowledge into advocacy to promote children’s rights. Advocacy includes political lobbying, grassroots organizing, and service activities in schools and communities.
